Prof. Farzin DeraviFarzin Deravi is Reader in Information Engineering and Director of Research at the Department of Electronics, University of Kent. He obtained his first degree in Engineering and Economics from the University of Oxford in 1981 and his M.Sc. in Electronic Engineering from Imperial College, University of London in 1982. From 1983 to 1987 he worked as a research assistant at the University of Wales, Swansea where he obtained his Ph.D. His current research interests include image processing, pattern recognition, and biometric systems. Dr Deravi is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the Institution of Electrical Engineers, and the British Machine Vision Association. He was the founding chair of the IEE Professional Network on Visual Information Engineering and is currently an Honorary Editor of the IEE Proceedings and a member of IEE Knowledge Services Board and Council. He is a member of the EPSRC Peer Review College and also serves on BSI, CEN and ISO committees on biometric standardisation. |
