Dr. Charles Beumier

Charles Beumier got the degree in electrical engineering from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in July 1987. Since 1988, he has been working at the Signal and Image Centre (SIC) of the Electrical department of the Royal Military Academy of Belgium. He was first concerned with image acquisition and graphical user interfaces. Then he focused on Pattern recognition. From 1990, he was deeply involved in automatic face recognition, considering frontal, profile and volumetric approaches. He was active in the field of humanitarian mine detection from 1999 till 2002 and presented his PhD in 2003 about “Identity Authentication through the Analysis of 3D Faces”. Since 2004, he has been working in Remote Sensing, mainly for the automatic detection of human-made structures in satellite images.
